RFP: Strategic Planning Facilitator

St. Louis Alliance for Reentry (STAR) is issuing a request for proposals (RFP) for a facilitator to lead a strategic planning process to establish a five year plan. The plan will articulate STAR’s vision/mission and include the goals, objectives, and actions steps that will guide the initiative for the next five years. STAR is requesting competitive bids for the work to be completed.

The STAR Strategic Plan Committee will review all proposals.The Committee may consider any factors it deems necessary and proper, including but not limited to: price, quality of service, response to this request, experience, staffing, and general reputation. The final selection will be made by STAR’s Steering Committee.

Please download RFP and carefully review the instructions. RFPs are due to Area Resources for Community and Human Services (ARCHS) by May 22, 2017.

2017 STAR Summit Overview and Video

More than 275 participants enjoyed a full day of educational sessions and networking at the 2017 St. Louis Alliance for Reentry Summit on March 14 on the campus of St. Louis Community College-Florisssant Valley. The focus of the Summit was on health, mental health, and substance use issues in the reentry field.

The Summit featured 22 speakers, 4 panel discussions, and was sponsored by ARCHS, Missouri Department of Corrections, Lutheran Foundation of St. Louis, St. Louis Community College, Washington University in St. Louis, St. Louis City, and St. Louis County.

STAR's Spring 2017 White Paper is now available. The paper was previewed by Stefani Moore, Center for Women in Transition, at the March 14, 2017 STAR Summit. Entitled "Health, Behavioral Health, and Substance Use Disorder: An Overview of the Issues Within the Criminal Justice System," the paper set the stage for the day-long Summit. 2016 Missouri Reentry Conference Highlights

The annual Missouri Reentry Conference continues to benefit from the collaboration among the Missouri Department of Corrections, Missouri Department of Social Services, Family and Community Trust (FACT), and ARCHS. The organizations jointly plan, promote, and implement this professional development opportunity. This year marked the 11th anniversary of the conference, which started in St. Louis in 2005 with less than 50 participants. The November 2016 conference celebrated the 10th anniversary of MRP teams (including STAR) being active throughout Missouri and featured testimonials from ex-offenders served by local MRP teams.

The conference featured 354 attendees, 53 presenters, 8 group sessions, 24 breakout sessions, 3,540 individual training hours, and 10 exhibitors. 98% of participants said they learned things that will inform their work, and 97% said the conference met their professional development needs.

Keynote speakers included: Heather Gieck (Healing House), Toni Jordan (Let’s Start), Julie Kempker (Department of Corrections), Becky James-Hatter (Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri), Christine McDonald (author), and Dr. Norm White (Saint Louis University).

Participants were awarded 10 contact hours via Missouri Substance Abuse Professional Credentialing Board (MSAPCB) and 1 CEU (10 contact hours) via Missouri State University. Reentry efforts, family relationships, and public safety in communities across the state are strengthened by the best practices and creative solutions shared at these innovative conferences.

At the event, Nancy McCarthy, STAR's co-chair, (pictured above) was recognized for her years of service on the conference's planning team. She will retire in spring 2017 from her position as Regional Administrator, Missouri Department of Corrections, Probation and Parole.

The 2017 conference is scheduled for Nov. 1-3 at The Lodge of Four Seasons.
